Description

Hip abduction movement to target the gluteus medius.

01 · Setup

Set up the movement

  • Adjust the pulley height to maintain a natural trajectory.
  • Stand upright, torso straight, supporting leg slightly bent.
  • Keep your pelvis facing forward and your shoulders fixed.
  • Start with the active leg close to the body axis.
02 · Execution

Perform the rep

  1. Spread the active leg to the side without tilting the torso.
  2. Pause briefly in lateral contraction.
  3. Slowly return to the starting position.
Technique cue

Pelvis facing forward, torso fixed, only the active leg moves.

Common mistakes
  • pelvic rotation
  • range of motion too short
  • abrupt return
  • tempo too abrupt
  • let the load return suddenly
