01 · Setup
Set up the movement
- Adjust the starting height and safety of the Smith machine.
- Slight tilt, shoulder blades tight and lowered.
- Comfortable reverse grip, wrists aligned with forearms.
- Elbows close to 45 degrees from the torso.
02 · Execution
Perform the rep
- Slowly go down to the top of your chest.
- Keep wrists stable and elbows under control.
- Push in a regular line without sudden movements.
Technique cue
Wrists locked and elbows controlled throughout the entire range.
Common mistakes- grip too narrow or too wide
- broken wrists
- descent too fast
- loss of shoulder blade position

Risks of poor execution
- The reverse grip can put more strain on the wrists and elbows if placed incorrectly.
